Why thinking makes anxiety worse! The full video can be watched here www.patreon.com/posts/video-2-what-you-25517483. It's from my calmness course, where I explain how I overcame my anxiety and OCD. Please check it out.
The following excerpt highlights the root cause of all anxiety disorders: the inherent disparity between conscious thought processes and unconscious emotions. Our conscious mind processes thoughts, while our emotions stem from our unconscious brain and body.
Mastering the balance between these two faculties is paramount for achieving inner peace and overall well-being. It's astonishing that such a vital aspect of our mental welfare is often overlooked in traditional educatio...

      I understand, however, life is how life is and (I think) we are here on Earth to learn how to accept, affect or learn how to see life differently. The vast majority of people are very kind, loving and caring! Just a few are stupid/bad/dangerous. I grew up in South London and even in the 70's it was required to be street-smart, so not much has really changed except the level of reporting on the news, less policing and a more fearful population. I would stop watching the news, take a personal defence course, try to live in a nicer area and work on seeing the best in people/life not the worst. This is what I try to teach in my course. I hope this helps a little? Video 18 of my course tries to teach you how to train your brain to see good things not bad things. I am not denying there is danger on (some of) our streets/towns but few countries don't have that and the ones that are largely safe, have other draconian rules in place to manage it.

    im finally getting around to watching these videos, I went down a bit of a bad spiral this year & am now kind of seeing the light. Things got so bad that I ended up on SSRI's (briefly) against my own judgement & intuition, and tapered off after about 2 months on my own accord. I haven't been on them now since mid may. I saw an OCD specialist too though that didn't work out as I felt like she never took me seriously and even chucked when I told her my theme. She did help me to understand ocd to a degree though, and how I just need not give it power. This has helped a lot but need to dive further into other areas of anxiety such as my agoraphobia. In no means am I perfect and I have a long way to go. What DID draw me to you though was how perfectly you explained ocd, even better than this therapist. Almost immaculately to my experience. I was going through some really, really bad anxiety last year due to where I am in life. Funnily enough a year to this date. This seemed to have stemmed from my job that I would go to day in & out which I know isn't who I am and have most certainly outgrown - But due to agoraphobia and being stuck in the same fkn 10km (which I overcome but seem to slip back & forth), I IGNORED all these feelings because I felt like I didn't have a choice. and there was a clear indicator that this was the issue. I had this feeling of stress in my body that developed that just wouldn't go away and I kept trying to fight through. Eventually my brain pulled out the big guns & it developed into this whole pure OCD thing. Makes total sense. I am still at that same job but that feeling of stress has since dissipated to a degree, I believe because I am now working on ways of getting myself out of that place (or just the place I am in life). Since we briefly spoke in early January about ocd in the comments, I have now started studying a course trying to fix these issues. I have a long way to go, but the journey has begun. I just need to fix my focus, and stop pretending everything is fine. because its not.

      Good for you man! The secret to finding calmness is through courage, self-esteem, understanding your innate personality type, seeing the world differently, updating your belief systems, finding your voice, retraining your brain, desensitising your body and accessing energy. My process teaches all of this. Good luck.

    From what I can inter from my experience I was crippled by OCD and anxiety but now I am able to work finely. I will say that the treatment of OCD is not like a take medicine and do therapy type work, it needs work in some other directions also, it's more about knowing oneself more and understanding the core concept of "I am that". What I mean Its primarily an issue with your brain and mind but you should also know that those are not the only things in our consciousness. We say we get repetitive thoughts but tell me what is repetitive in this, your mind will never stop reacting to everything around you unless it understand the emptiness of it all. Like in the deep sleep we achieve such states after which dream initiation takes place and in those dreams you see some reality. I waking states you are plagued by what then? The delusional reality, everything that is happening around you isn't it just another repetition of things? Your awareness is something that is always pure you can keep having pain physical and mental but your awareness of that pain or something can bring out it's true nature then all of pain becomes nothing and what about pleasure it is also the same. Just bring your awareness which is nothing but your curious attention to things and observing things from a curious person's viewpoint you will find the true nature of reality, our mind's nature which seeks to find the causal relationship between things has to be let go off and only then you begin keeping track of things, multiple aspects of things will come to your mind, that is true consciousnes and it is this mind which is healthy which is whole and doesn't feel any bondage because of the thoughts and emotions, it has to completely surrender to one central aspect of living which that of being an observer and nothing else.

    PLEASE HELP!!! I am Spanish and therefore my entire message will be written by a translator. I hope you can understand me. I am Víctor from Spain, I am 20 years old and I have had anxiety since I was little, it used to occur in class, in restaurants, in a movie theater to give some examples... well the fact is, I have been in this hell for 2 years, on May 9, 2022 I I woke up having thoughts that in my life I had had about harming myself, I remember that the day before before going to sleep I read a news story about a boy who took his own life, logic tells me that this could have been a possible trigger, I at the same time At first I was scared because I didn't want to do that nor do I want to and I didn't know what was happening to me, I had a lot of anxiety, my chest hurt, I was short of breath, I felt terrible... in the middle of that hell I thought, well, this is going to be a bad day and Tomorrow I will be fine, because the days went by and it was still the same, even because of the fear I had, I even slept with my mother, imagine... a few days after this, while I was in my room, this thought occurred to me, which I remember perfectly. What if I kill my mother? If after the thoughts of hurting myself I was already bad, imagine after that crossed my mind... literally, I couldn't even see my mother, it was terrible, if before I had anxiety, then after thinking that I had twice as much... investigating why Google I found content about intrusive thoughts and such, at that time while reading about the subject I came across a phrase that helped me at that moment (you are not your thoughts) and that literally eliminated the physical symptoms that I had even though those thoughts were still there. A few days after this I went to the psychiatrist to tell him exactly what I am telling in this message and he told me about impulsive phobias, I went home and a few days after this the typical news that they give at night was on Antena 3's news. Well, well, they talked about a news story about a boy with schizophrenia and what happened to me is that I was literally in shock, I hardly slept that night, literally when I heard that I was like, I have this. I started looking for symptoms throughout the summer and a few more months, in total 4/5 months followed day by day on Google, on RUclips videos of people with schizophrenia, videos about psychotic breaks, about other mental disorders and well from there I am not bad, the following. I literally began to pay attention to sounds and for example I was watching a RUclips video of whatever and if I heard something that could be outside of that video, I would rewind the video to see if I heard it again, that was an example of what What I did and sometimes I continued doing it, I was aware of what I saw or if I saw things out of the ordinary, sometimes out of the corner of my eye I see like a flash and I wonder if you are freaking out in case it is a hallucination, I also read about delusions and paranoia and to give an example, reading that these people think they want to kill them and from then on I have thoughts of that style, "paranoid" thoughts even though I know they are a lie, I don't know if after everything I'm saying Are you finding out what is happening to me or if perhaps in your consultation you have had cases of this style, because in Spanish I have barely found information as if I have found it in English and they relate it to OCD called OCD Going Crazy, but literally that Sometimes I doubt that this could be OCD, this seems serious, I'm afraid it's psychosis or schizophrenia, I'm shit, I need help, it seems like I'm delirious at times, although I repeat, I know that certain thoughts don't make sense... I think that reading symptoms has messed with my head because in my life I have had these thoughts and I think I am very suggestive. 3 psychiatrists tell me that they are impulsive phobias but come on, sometimes it seems like he's really crazy.

    As someone who has struggled immensly with crippling pure o (many subtypes) and rocd for forever, and recently finally also been diagnosed with adhd (which makes a lot of sense- ofc besides the moments where my ocd gaslights me into thinking i do not have adhd😂) i cannot thank you enough for this insightful video which has just been mindblowing and VERY much fits what my therapist is trying to explain to me about my life and why i have this excitable adhd nature and at the same time these abhorent Obsessions as well as a harsh inner critic. I still think i need some time to get this into my head, how my pure o has arisen to keep my adhd nature at bay, and how this plays out for the different themes but i wanted to thank you for helping us out with your insightful video, this makes so much sense to me:) also, in case you know: do you have any tips for medication when it comed to the adhd and pure o combination?

    • @TakeResponsibilityforYOURLife
      @TakeResponsibilityforYOURLife 12 дней назад

      Personally, I would try to avoid any medication because a person with ADHD has super sensitive responses to alcohol, medication & recreational drugs (more than the average person) so any medication to try to stimulate the person - works for a day or two, then absolutely exhausts them and makes their anxiety worse. Beta blockers tend to cause a dependancy. Anti-psychotics make you a zombie and the jury is out whether SSRI's actually work or are simply a placebo! The secret is to understand how the OCD operates and then to disarm it through using clever psychology and biology reprogramming. For example, your OCD is an unconscious response - so the only way you can change that is by consciously tricking your unconscious into running new automatic programs. This means you will have to consciously see that logic and reason (of the conscious mind) are not what the unconscious mind uses. However, if you are taught how the unconscious mind operates you can see what you need to do to consciously reprogram it. Then learn new ways to accept your ADHD nature and not fear it - and learn new ways to see the world and interact with it. That is why I have spent 5 years making my OCD recovery course - so a person can learn what is happening to them and what they can do to change themselves. It is here www.patreon.com/theanxietyspecialist - you might be really surprised how much you can do to change yourself. The course is only £10 a month to subscribe to as I wish for everybody to be able to access really professional help at a fair and affordable price as there is far too much anxiety in this world - and there is much you can do about it :-) Best wishes - John

    This is really interesting! . I only recently discovered Pure O OCD and I’m sure I have it. I was late diagnosed autistic, I possibly have the inattentive type of ADHD but I’ve never been tested. Do you think the link could extend to overall ND being suppressed/masked, not just ADHD in childhood?

  • @ranc1977
    @ranc1977 13 дней назад

    Unconscious PureO targets the opposite of who that person really is. Example: they consciously desire to travel, but unconsciously fear traveling. They consciously desire to be social, but unconsciously fear of abusing those whom they meet. Or unknowingly they sabotage their relationships. They consciously want to break rules, but unconsciously fear other people being upset and telling them off. 🟥 Pure O (OCD), Complex Anxiety This is mind blowing and it perfectlty makes sense.

      @@TakeResponsibilityforYOURLife I wasted 20 years on CBT - following it blindly to cure my social anxiety. CBT instructed me to believe: 1) that my fears are irrational, that toxic people do not exist but in my cognitive distortions are making me scared - which was not true. 2) that am I abnormal since I lack social skills, and that I am sick because I do not have assertiveness - and I must develop shame and guilt to improve my errors and flaws. This ended as toxic shame. I ended up being crippled with panic - since CBT explained me that social anxiety is my fault. While in reality - I learned that social anxiety is byproduct of ACE and ACoA - toxic ambient where we learn to suppress our natural healthy anger and we push it down. Then other parts inside us take the role of anger - unsuccessfully and creating panic in the process - since it is similar to sending children to war front. I suppressed my army and miliary and police parts - that are specialized for establishing boundaries and alarming intruders when they cross common sense social agreements. CBT never explained it like that. CBT is automatic default therapy for social anxiety - anyone struggling with social anxiety will buy self help books or enter into medical therapy - which will be based on CBT. With CBT I developed fawning and people pleasing and self blame and toxic shame and PureOCD and inner critic - since I never had been told that I am suppressing my anger. No one told me that is the only problem and nothing else. Before social anxiety I was social, I was outgoing, I had social skills - this is not something that I was unable to have, as CBT explained it.

      @@ranc1977CBT is not very effective for OCD - especially pure o. ERP on intrusive thoughts must be to normalize fears not step into them. For example - a fear of stabbing a person must be visualised as cooking that person a loving meal using knives appropriately then eating it with them using a knife and for.

      @@TakeResponsibilityforYOURLife Yeah. My PureOCD theme was around rude, violent aggressive people who yell and scream at me - either because I did something wrong or they accuse me of something I didn't do. Their anger was something that came back to me as intrusive thought and I could not shake it off. Either physical or verbal abuse form someone I know or someone random, at work or in street, this was my PureOCD obsession - how to fix their anger, how to shield from it, how not to feel unworthy and inept and guilty about it. This was my obsession theme that plagued me - and CBT had no other explanation other than blaming my "cognitive distortions". While in reality - it was my own suppressed anger - inability for my anger to handle toxic people and hence create invisible shield so that they can't hurt me inside as they did.

    Complex Anxiety - This is the first time I hear of this term and I love it!!! Genius! Yes, PureOCD comes from repressed anger. PureOCD is also worry about other people's anger and their hate. Most common at toxic job or in dysfunctional family or living in shame culture country where people are constantly expressing their negative and intruding opinion about some person, ad hominems, other person real or imagined flaws mistakes and errors.

      It's my experience that people with Pure O are very clever, creative, extroverted and artisan - they are just not living (or seeing themselves) in this way. They must stop comparing themselves to others, stop trying to fit in - and find their own unique path. My course tries to teach people how to do this.

      @@TakeResponsibilityforYOURLife Amazing work! This is similar to IFS Model and Coherence Therapy. IFS model speaks about our suppressed parts which are unable to perform their specialty - their expertise - and then other parts take over to do the job done - without doing it correctly since these other parts are not equipped to do it. For example, If I have social anxiety - this is not because of lack of skills as CBT explains it. While in reality - social anxiety is byproduct of suppressed anger. Where our other parts take over the role of anger with catastrophic results: not being able to socialize. Without anger I will allow my compassion to socialize the most, and this will end up as fawning and people pleasing and being easily exploited by toxic people such as narcissists and psychopaths (Mate Crime)-

    I have ocd, adhd and depression. Several therapists have said it sounds like ocd developed as a result of my adhd being repressed as a kid. Maybe I was more susceptible? Idk. I’m medicated for both though now and have gone through years of therapy. ADHD feels like who I am, like I need to manage it rather than it ever going away, whereas my ocd I feel like I work hard to keep it in “remission” sort of. Idk if that makes sense! But this is sooo interesting.

      It makes sense. The meds usually exhaust the ADHD person as they have a very sensitive nature to drugs and alcohol. They work for a few days, then wipe them out emotionally. Yes, just embrace your ADHD, live in the now and focus on that which interests you.

      Yes, it is always the nice guys or those dominant ones who had their natural dominance domesticated out of them by parents, school or emotional trauma. Or those who had ADHD as a child and learned how to repress their natural, free spirit to try and fit into society! All three groups can relearn how to be their true selves if they are shown how. That is what my course treaches.

      I'm sorry you are going through this. Did you have mild ADHD as a child? This often morphs into Pure O (thinking OCD) and often BDD in teenage or adult years (in my experience). Also, if this is the case, the repressed ADD often results in knowing what you need to do to change your life, but failing to take action upon it. (I mean this respectfully as my wife has ADHD and needs me to keep nudging her towards actions that she knows she desires to do. My video course will explain everything and demonstrate what you can do to help yourself if you want to. This is why I created the course, as there are very few people who truly understand OCD, and getting private help from specialists can be very costly. Plus CBT (and the way CBT teaches ERP) is not very effective for OCD especially pure O with sexual, harming or contamination-type thoughts. I have 5 videos on how and why to do effective ERP in my course Video 50 parts 1 to 5. Good luck whatever you choose to do. John www.patreon.com/theanxietyspecialist
